Odonata Seaglass contest winner photo by Sharon Hirsch

These are pottery shards from Hudson Bay and the local shore. I am not versed in pottery - but they are quite old.
The bottle neck looks to be over 100 years old.
Sharon tells me that it has a lavendar color. This is clue #1 for aging the piece. Between 1880 - 1915 manganese was used in the manufacture of clear glass bottles. They used it to mask out the aqua and green from iron and other impurities. Over time and sun exposure the manganese turns lavendar. The shape of bottle neck also gives us a clue. According to Richard LaMotte's Pure Seaglass - the shape of the neck verifies that it was made between 1850 - 1920.  Fun Stuff Huh?!

New Website:
(same address different site)
New store site:

The good news is that now that I am maintaining the sites myself I can keep your prices lower and add items more frequently.

If you attend a show and are not ready buy, you can access the store and look for a similar item. If you do not see it in the shop - simply email me a description. If it is still in stock I can post it to the store and you will have an opportunity to purchase it if you choose. All transactions are processed through Square. This is the same method I have been using at my shows.

Any questions or comments are welcome as this is new territory for me.

How to Clean and maintain Seaglass Jewelry? See my post.
Summer is Here and lots of events are happening!

Please see events listings for details.

BRIDES - Don't miss the Branford Garden Club show this weekend - see listing
CUSTOM DESIGNS  -  With your seaglass I can create special designs. Great for gifts!
How to Maintain my  Seglass Jewelry?:
WINDOW CLEANER! Yes that stuff that I cannot mention the name of here!
It is great for restoring the frost to your seaglass.. It will also brighten your silver. Heavily tarnished silver will need a good silver polish  - but dull silver and glass will brighten up in a minute.
To avoid loosing the frost on your seaglass remember the rule - Last On First Off. Put your jewelry on after you do your lotions and hair products. Take the jewelry off before you put on lotions or perfumes.
GLUED JEWELRY - Any pieces that are glued must be handled carefully. I use a waterproof glue in my work - but any tiny gap can allow water in between the glass and the finding. Do not wear glued items while swimming. After cleaning and allowing to dry please test your piece to be sure it is secure. If it is loose you can pull off the old glue and re glue with E - 6000 or call me and I will be happy to repair it!

For the past several years I have been borrowing DVDs from both Guilford and Scranton libraries. I LOVE my weekend "happy hours" spent watching an old movie while creating my treasures. It was only fitting that I thank the libraries during my celebration month. Please go and enjoy the books!
